Draft Proposal – WAIS Reliquary Urn

This page is a Draft document, do not share this link or copy content.

WAIS Reliquary Urn Description:

A surplus drill and barrel is retrofitted into a container to hold the 3402 ampules. Depending on the inside diameter, the barrel would need to be approximately ½ to 1 meter long. This would become part of the WAIS Reliquary installation that will be exhibited at various institutions associated with the WAIS Ice Core Project.

Once the WAIS Reliquary: 68,000 Years sculpture has been exhibited widely (over the next 5-10 years), the frame that holds the ampules will be dismantled, and the glass ampules (with the precious ice core water) will be loaded into a stainless steel barrel container, along with video documentation of the graph, exhibition photographs, and information about the WAIS Divide Ice Core Project on electronic storage. This Urn becomes the permanent WAIS Reliquary.
